Notice of Public Hearing – November 2017

Learning Disabilities Association of Maine and the G.E.A.R. Parent Network are inviting you to attend one of the following statewide hearings set up below by the Office of Child and Family Services and Disability Rights Maine to get YOUR feedback on the children’s services Section 28 and 65 that you have received in the past, are currently receiving or are on a wait list to receive.  This is your opportunity to provide feedback on the services your children have received and be an active participant toward changing our children’s system of care!  Please make the time to attend and share what is working, what are your barriers and what are your unmet needs. 
 
If you find that you cannot attend one of these public hearings, I encourage you to MAIL in your written comments by Nov 28th to: Teresa Barrows, OCFS Director at the address below.

Behavioral Health Needs of Children in Maine
 
Maine DHHS Office of Child and Family Services (OCFS) and Disability Rights Maine (DRM)

Want to hear from families of children receiving or in need of community based behavioral health services (sometimes referred to as Section 28 and/or 65), as well as community members. Come share your positive experience with the current behavioral health services as well as any challenges your family may be experiencing. Children’s Behavioral Health Services (CBHS) and DRM seek to better understand and address the unmet needs of children with developmental disabilities and/or mental health diagnoses and their families. PRIORITY AREAS FOR CHILDREN’S BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES IN MAINE
CBHS established the following priorities for 2017:

 

1.) Ability to access behavioral health services for children
2.) How well the current system of children’s behavioral health services is meeting your child’s needs
3.) Barriers to accessing services, if any, encountered in meeting your child’s behavioral health needs
4.) Suggestions to improve the children’s behavioral health system of care
